All the quotes that I have gotten are WAY too expensive too.
I stumbled upon a company called The Search Guru (www.thesearchguru.com). They are WAY WAY WAY too expensive for most small businesses and they admit it but they gave me TONS of free advice. They have a bunch of information on their website and they have a book you can purchase ($90). The book has been very helpful in figuring out keywords but only talked a little about backlinks. http://www.business.yezeo.com/ is what my boss uses, this does analyze like everything of websites from keywords google or yahoo plus it tells me what we need to do it even lets you spy on your competitors website. Grab any URL click a button and Bang, crush your competition lol This has cut down our search engine seo costs to 30 percent or so and we have several top three rankings in google. I think it is still free
