I have two websites that are well established, but are not converting as many visitors into sales as I would like. I want to hire an experienced web designer to help me do this, but when I search, I find mostly books and websites that give you tips for how to make your website get more conversions. Please help? Please provide any companies that you know of, or even a search string that provides the results I am looking for?

Thanks!
I’m very familiar with seo, and the tools that google etc provide; I’m getting a fair amount of traffic now because of it. I guess I need the site to be much more sales driven. I don’t know where to begin to look for that. If anyone knows any website for businesses that provide that service, *please* let me know!
I have specific products that are sold on the sites. I need to be able to have a higher turn over rate for the people that do actually come to my site by searching for relevant terms, stay and buy. Please help!!! :-)
The problem is that any idiot can call himself an SEO or conversions expert, but few people can actually do the work.

Try searching for your state’s software development group. Most likely, they have members who will work in this area. The executive director of the group should be able to point you to someone local to you, and believe me, local is important, because you’ll want to be able to ride herd on their performance.

NOTE: This is part one a two-part series. In part two, we’ll examine tips 6 thru 10.

While there are a variety of factors that contribute to online success, no one can dispute the effectiveness of the following proven tips:

1. You must have a plan. The number one mistake that most people who attempt to make money online make is they don’t have a plan of any kind. There’s an age old proverb by Thomas Edison that accurately states: “He who fails to plan, plans to fail.” Develop a well-thought-out plan for what you want to do and how you plan to do it - a roadmap to your goals if you will. Write it down, and refer to it often. Not only can you use it to monitor your progress, it will help keep you on track as well.

2. You have to work hard. Many people mistakenly approach making money online with the idea of making a quick buck - easy riches if you will. And while a rare few achieve instant gratification and realize success rather quickly, the vast majority get hit with a brutal dose of reality. Making money online is neither quick or easy. It often requires time, patience, discipline and hard work. There are no shortcuts. Famous philanthropist Andrew Carnegie once wrote, “anything in life worth having is worth working for.” Those are words I try to live by everyday.

3. You must be passionate. I am constantly amazed at how many people approach making money online without any passion whatsoever. Passion is like a high-powered furnace that exists deep inside of you. It just needs to be fired up. So how do you fire up your passion? Easy. Do things that you’re passionate about - things that you truly enjoy doing. Why? Because passion is a key component to success. It motivates you. It keeps you focused. It makes you determined to keep going against even the most astronomical of odds. It helps you find solutions to your problems.

It’s been my experience that people who are truly passionate about whatever it is that they’re involved with have a level of determination, discipline and commitment that most people simply don’t have. It has been said that “the greater someone’s passion, the greater their level of success.” I believe that to be absolutely true. If you’re not passionate about what you’re doing, you’re merely spinning your wheels!

4. You have to believe in what you’re doing. There’s an old saying that states: “faith can move mountains.” And while that may not necessarily be true in a literal sense, belief in yourself, your ability and what you’re trying to accomplish can indeed be powerful. Let me give you an example of what I’m talking about. This past summer Tiger Woods won his third U.S. Open championship and 14th major title.

It was an unlikely victory for Woods, who was physically handicapped because he played the entire tournament with a broken leg. Two days after winning the championship, Woods revealed that he would miss the remainder of the 2008 season because he was having major surgery on his leg. When asked by reporters why he jeopardized his career by playing with such a serious injury, Woods simply replied, “I wanted to win.” Now if that’s not having faith in your ability to get the job done, I don’t know what is. Bottom line: To make money online, you have to believe in what you’re doing!

5. You must follow-up with prospects. Did you know that the average e-commerce website has a conversion ratio of around 1 percent? That means 99 percent of visitors to your website will leave without purchasing anything. That’s why following up with your prospects is so important. If you’re serious about making money online, you absolutely, positively must collect your visitors names and e-mail addresses so that you can follow-up with them at a later date.

The most effective method of following up is with a well-written, informative newsletter that not only provides your subscribers with useful information, but skillfully promotes your products and services as well. An easy to use follow-up platform would be a service like Constant Contact.

Bidding for the right keywords, any pay per click advertiser will tell you, is only the start of a paid search engine marketing campaign. The next step in the process is focusing on the landing page. When a potential customer clicks on an advertisement, the page that he (or she) is led to is called the landing page. Many search engine marketing firms ignore this vital step in the PPC process. A carefully constructed landing page can and will have a positive impact on your site’s conversion rate and on your ROI (return on investment). Here are some important landing page tips that can make a huge difference to a pay per click campaign.

KISS

The KISS (Keep It Short and Simple) Principle has long been a software development maxim that is relevant to landing pages in b2b commerce. Most business procurement managers do not need to see marketing clutter on the landing page. A focused and simple approach offering clear value propositions is appreciated more than a long winded paragraph extolling the virtues of your product or service. Break up your information into numbered or bulleted sections that can be absorbed at a glance.

Hook them

It is highly unlikely that a visitor will purchase on their first arrival. A simple way to establish contact that will allow you to follow up is to provide a registration form. An added advantage is the extra information that you can collect. With telephone numbers and email addresses, a web site can contact potential customers independently. In addition to registration, a web site should also have visible links to relevant documentation such as detailed product or service specifications on the landing page. This will ensure that a sophisticated visitor validates your claims as the merchant.

Test, Test, Test

Choose multiple layouts and styles and try each one in rotation. Analyze user statistics to determine your visitors’ actions. Track behavior of visitors who converted into sales versus those that did not to give you a clearer picture of where improvements can be made. Armed with this information, you can optimize your landing page depending on what visitors are most likely to read.

Efficient Landing Page Optimization techniques can bring about dramatic improvements in your website performance, and subsequently the ROI. Convonix Inc offers customized Search Engine Marketing strategies including SEO, PPC and Landing Page Optimization to help websites leverage their online presence.

Your goal as an Internet marketer is to build your list. It is a proven fact that more than ninety percent of your visitors will not buy the first time they visit your website. If you are not collecting leads, you are leaving a lot of money on the table.

Let’s quickly review what you need to have on your money making squeeze page.

1. Your squeeze page should have just the right amount of information on it to get your visitors to the stage where they can’t say no and will want to opt in to your mailing list to get that special free gift that you are offering in exchange for their optin.

2. You should have no outgoing links on your squeeze page at all as the only thing that you want your visitors to do on that page is to opt in to your subscriber list.

3. Bullet points make it quick, simple and very easy to understand and by giving a few points about why they ‘must have’ your free gift you are giving them the reason to opt in.

The way to know if your squeeze page is converting well or not is by the number of people who opt in as a ration of the number of people who visit the page.

This is your conversion rate which can vary from very low to as high as 70%. Offering a good quality product as the free gift is also a big player in how many people will opt in but always make sure that you have the above three points so your visitors know exactly what they will be getting by opting into your list.

You absolutely need to track this number and split test your optin page as well. In fact, if you want to make a living on the Internet, you need to test and track all your advertising.

Often when people start an internet business they don’t have a clue how to go about their marketing campaign. They end up posting ads aimlessly to places that do nothing but send them spam and waste time and money. Then, after a couple weeks without results, they give up. And it it happening with people everyday. So, in this section we will look at a number of techniques which you can use to your advantage when promoting your new website. When used correctly these marketing techniques will dramatically increase traffic and sales without emptying your bank account.

1. Web Classifieds & Directories
Good quality links - especially from webpages on a similar topic to yours - are crucial to getting ranked well in the search engine results. The search engines figure that sites with more good links to them are more important & will reward them with better rankings. And, of course, people will find your site through links too. So submitting your site to a quality directories and and placing adds on a high rated  classified sites will not only bring more people to your website but also will help search engines to find your website faster and also will increase your site rating in search engines.

2. Link Exchanges
This is a fantastic way to increase the importance of your website in the eyes of the search engines. The rationale that the search engines use is that if other sites are linking to yours, then your site must be important. A link from another site to your site is considered a “vote” for your site. The more of these votes, the better; to an extent, of course. Steer clear of such black hat techniques as link farms and free for all (FFA) sites. I recommend starting by asking your vendors, suppliers and customers if they could link to your site in exchange for a link to theirs. You could then branch out into related businesses that service a different audience. read more

3. Search Engine Submission
This step is critical for any brand new website. You’ll want to let the major search engines know that your new site exists, and prompting them to visit it with a search engine submission campaign is a great start. Don’t bother buying a big 1500-engine submission package ? there’s only about 7 to 10 major search engines worth worrying about, and once you’re listed on these, the other 1490 will pick you up (not that they’ll send you any measurable traffic?). The controversy here is whether or not to continue a submission campaign. Does it help an established site? Does it hurt it?  A big tip to give you here is to be sure to work hard to get your site listed in the important directories like Google and Yahoo.

 4. Electronic Newsletter / EMAIL Marketing
An electronic newsletter is a fantastic method for staying in touch with not only existing customers, but potential customers as well. Provide useful, interesting information on a regular basis and be sure that people can subscribe and unsubscribe easily. Utilizing a good tool (e.g. auto responder or follow up service) will make your life easier and allow people to forward the newsletter to their friends and colleagues (known as Viral Marketing). You can also use the newsletter as a vehicle for announcements or specials. Never charge anything to subscribers, and build your list by running contests or promotions or free giveaways.

 5. Article Writing
Writing articles is another great way to generate a lot of quality traffic as well as make a name for yourself on the internet. All you do is write on a topic you know about and submit it to places that accept article submissions. This one scares people at first because they don’t think they can write. Trust me it’s not as hard as you may think to find a topic you know something about. Then just write a couple pages about it. For example: I never used to think I could write articles but you are reading this one right now, aren’t you?

6. Forum Submissions
Basically all you do with this one is go to internet business forums and post answers to people’s questions. This one is more for making a solid reputation for yourself as a knowledgeable and trustworthy individual.

7.Traffic Exchanges
Traffic exchange is a program where you surf other people’s sites in return for other people surfing your site. You can generate a lot of visitors with these programs, but the question is whether these visitors are really interested in your web page or they just want free hits to their site.

8. Pay-per-click
I saved this one until last as I believe it is the single most important item in this list. If you remember nothing else from this article, remember pay-per-click (or PPC). By paying for visits from people who are searching on keywords related to your product or service, you are almost ensuring that your website will generate more revenue with a higher conversion rate of visitors to customers. The more popular programs include Google AdWords, Overture Content Match and Site Match, as well as smaller players like FindWhat, Kanoodle and Mamma.

What NOT to do when promoting your business - Do not send out unsolicited (spam) emails to people. All that will do is get you in trouble and won’t produce very good results anyway. Don’t post to FFA (free for all) sites. All you will get back from them is a bunch of junk in your inbox so it’s not worth your time. Also, don’t use unethical business practices of any kind. If you are not sure about something then ask someone. Always use your better judgment.

You can read detailed explanation of every point above at http://www.wizit.co.nz

Building quality traffic to your website can be difficult and it won’t happen overnight. There are no quick way to building trafficand the ones that guarantee high volumes of traffic quickly, normally means that that traffic is of poor quality. If you are a business and sell products on your website you only want quality traffic that will convert into sales.

  6. Viral marketing on the web can be an excellent way to attract traffic to your website. Just try thinking outside the box.
  7. Now this one is important having quality compelling content on your website because if you don’t have this then your visitors won’t stick around.
  8. RSS feeds are an excellent way to keep people up to date on what’s happening on your website as people can be notified for example as soon as new products have been added to your website.

So how can you affectively advertise in E-zines and reap a profit from affiliate products? There are a number of different ways, of which, I will cover three below:

1. Target E-zines that are related to your specific affiliate product.

Create a viral report that is related to your affiliate Purchase sponsor ads in reputable E-zines and send all of those interested to a page where they can download your viral report for free. This report will have an embedded affiliate link, which will generate sales on your behalf.

2. Create a persuasive solo ad.

Again, start off by purchasing solo ad space in cheaper E-zines; ones that are responsive, but have a low subscription count. Test your solo ads to determine
your approximate conversion rate with the given affiliate product. Once you have a rough handle on your profit margin, attempt to market your solo ads in larger publications, including e-zines with subscriber bases of over 100,000. Keep in mind that this will be expensive, but it will also pay off if you did your homework in the previous steps.

3. Last, consider targeting high-end online publications with your ads.

These will include ones that don’t normally include their sites in E-zine directories, such as authority sites that publish a monthly E-zine in PDF format. These often have high response rates and will similarly draw the best response if you use them correctly.

Once you have selected reputable e-zines to advertise in, you will then want to begin creating your solo ad. There are a number of writing formulas you can use to do this; however, you will always want to keep in mind what it is that your potential customer wants most.

In conclusion, promoting your website and making profits from it using E-zines is a very viable and effective method. You just have to keep in mind what it is that people want and need. I’ll give you a quick recap of the three most effective tips for using this powerful method:

- Target E-zines that are related to your specific affiliate product.

- Create a persuasive solo ad.

- Consider targeting high-end online publications with your ads.

In advertising, it is often easy to project our own wants in a given product onto potential buyers; however, it is important when communicating with them that you talk about their wants, not yours.

I hope you don’t take this advice lightly, and is it could mean sink or float for you and your online aspirations.

Before revealing the secrets of the trades, here are myths and fallacies that need to be cleared before one indulges into building an opt-in list. These marketing misconceptions could pose so much of an obstacle towards your profitting well from your business.

Not a lot of people use email

Email marketing is one of the most effective marketing methods nowadays simply because virtually almost all people use email. Check on those email fields or blanks required to be filled up on various forms needed in processing different transactions. A person without an email address is tantamount to a person without an online home, which is one big shameful truth for this generation.

Email marketing campaigns can offend a lot of people

The not-so secret way to surmount this dilemma is through permission-based advertising. There’s no harm in trying after asking for permission.

It’s stupid to send email to all the people

The key to this predicament is to have a very discerning eye on who to email and who to not email. Better look for some metrics on how to know which group of people would give you high ROI or return on investment.

The Real Deal with Building Opt-in List

After clearing the fog regarding email marketing myths, here’s how one can benefit from employing the power of email marketing campaigns - building an opt-in list.

However, building an opt-in list is not a piece of cake particularly for the uninitiated. Here is a roundown of tips on how to succeed in this kind of marketing endeavor.

1. Strategic Collection of Data

Know which information from your audiences will help you in lowering expenses and/or make sales flourish. Devise a tactic to make people voluntarily provide you with the information necessary to create higher conversion.

Overload of data is not good. Ask only for opt-in, with their full name and email addresses. Make sure that the profiles that you gather are updated to aid in improving the relevance, timeliness and satisfaction from each deal you make.

2. Good Implementation

Old adage says it all - ‘action speaks louder than words’. This easily translates to the difficulty one has to undergo during the execution of his or her email marketing efforts. It’s a good thing that various methods, often low-cost, abound to hasten and facilitate the building up of one’s opt-in database.

Tracking your email marketing results can pose great hardship, too. Technology and relevant sources should be employed in making this aspect of your marketing a lot manageable. Your high traffic groups of opt-ins with the greatest result should be taken noted of.

The following are the most widely used methods to leverage channels without overspending:

1. Make use of websites.

It is an excellent tool for data collation and providing you with relevant info regarding your email offers. Use forms that solicit your visitor’s email address and consent.

2. Make use of print ads, brochures, TV, radio and direct mail.

These are the more popular ways of marketing aiming to lead traffic to one’s site. You may want to ask for signups for email services. Make your website more visible through these media. Offering free electronic newsletters and or rewards program can do well in making it easy to win the nod of your audiences, too.

3. Maximize your sales force.

Customer service associates can help a lot in making you benefit more from your email correspondence. Sales people with proper education on how to aid you in this endeavor can very well contribute to higher ROI. Techniques like offering account updates and special programs through email can easily land you those lists of valuable visitors.

4. Don’t make your point of sale pointless.

Forms for signup located at cash registers and other high-traffic and highly visible spots can be very excellent venues for your business to collect email addresses. Notification of upcoming sales through their email addresses and names can coax them to supply you with the information you need.

5. Conferences or trade shows can work, too.

Giveaway offers or entries on sweepstakes are great for opt-in to volunteer their contact details.

These tactics should be applied with adequate caution and should focus on earning the trust of your opt-in list instead of simply collating data for your sole own benefit. Always make sure that the forms that you will use and other methods that you will employ will not necessitate too much fuss to subscribe. This is for people to not be annoyed during the process of data supplication.

With that bunch of information, who can ever go wrong with the feat of building an opt-in list?

The goal of any marketing campaign, including those using free advertising methods, is to attract interest and build desire for your product or services. One of the most cost effective advertising methods is email marketing.

To ensure that your email marketing campaign is a success you must first be prepared!

Here are some quick tips to get you ready:

- Know your target market.
- Your website should be ready to capture leads and provide information.
- Develop an attractive offer.
- Create professional copy or hire someone for the job.
- Test. Know your results before you start.
- Think of ways that you can build relationships and trust through email.

Of all the ways to get traffic to your site and make money online, nothing beats email marketing. Of course, email marketing can be a waste of time if not done correctly. After all, it is important to realize that the people you are sending your message to are very, very busy. Another good assumption is that they probably receive several hundred emails a day.

Today I’ll cover different email marketing techniques that you can use to help build your online businesses and also reveal what works and what doesn’t. Here we go.

1. The subject line for your message should be short yet informative. Most of us use the subject to filter out emails we don’t want to read, so it’s important that a subject encourages the reader to open the email.

2. Do you read every email you get? Of course not! Keep the content of your messages short and use headings and bullets to emphasize important information. Don’t waste time; just let your readers know what you are offering.

3. Leave your reader with a call to action. Include contact information such as your phone number, email address. It must be clear what you expect of your readers if they are interested in your offer.

4. Your content should be friendly yet not to familiar. Make sure to include a name in your from address.

5. Keep in mind that most readers will not read the whole message. Include your key information in the first paragraph. In fact, keep your messages to just one paragraph.

6. Send your emails out in text format. HTML format may look nicer, but many email clients now block HTML emails by default.

7. Don’t bother sending out unsolicited email. Only send out emails to those who have requested information from you. The majority of readers, who receive emails that they actually requested, open on average, 78% of them.

8. Why would people continue to allow you to contact them? By providing value. Give your readers a reason to want to open your emails provide useful content on a topic of interest or a discount related to a product that they already purchased.

9. Remind your readers to add your email address to their white list.

10. Many readers depend on the name in the from field or the subject line to determine whether they will open an email or not. Compelling subject lines could contain discount offers, free shipping offers, product announcements or interesting news.

Finally, think of email marketing as person to person, not business to business. Before doing any form of free advertising, remember that you are dealing with real people, so make sure it is written by a real person.

The benefits of email marketing are many; low cost, high conversion rate and easy to track results are just a few. More consumers are becoming acceptable to email marketing every day, so give it a try!
