So, long story short: I am trying to get my old job back which I had for 5 years strong. I, among other people, were laid off due to the economy and them wanting to adhere to a smaller business model.

I was layed off early Nov ( by the director- who’s female- in person, I’ve never actually met the owner since he’s in a diff state, although I have corresponded with him a great deal via phone, email, etc.) with the possibility of coming back when things picked up. I emailed the owner in Dec just to wish happy holidays and to reiterate the fact that I did desire to come back.

He emailed me saying perhaps after the 1st of the year and copied the director on it via email..

So, I wait till a week after the first and emailed the director ( one who layed me off) about the possibility of coming back and she replied stating to check back in the later part of the week after she talks to the owner and reasses the richmond market.

I waited till Fri and emailed her back. I didn’t get a response. I waited another 5 days and emailed her back again stating I didn’t wish to be a bother and was simply checking in to see what the status was. She never emailed back.

So, I’m at a crossroads.. I don’t know if I should just email the owner since he was the one who said after the 1st there was a chance I could come back. Or email him and CC her on it.. or just leave the whole thing alone. With the whole chain of command thing in play, she was my boss, not him although he was the owner and made a lot of the big decisions.

Should I compose the email and start it off with there names? Dave and Diane, .. ? That doesn’t seem professional. What should I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, they hated my husband and now that I’m going through with the separation and divorce, do I include that or leave it out?

Note: sorry my ‘to make a long story short’ didn’t end up being brief in the least, lol.. and also sorry for posting it here.. had no clue where to post, besides, seems like there’s more traffic on here; not to mention, I’ve always received my best answers and most advice from this section.. :) Thanks.. but do I just CC him in or blind copy him in?

Im prob just making this too difficult, aren’t I? lol..
I worked for a nationwide dating service.. we all talked about our personal relationships.. lol. But I get what you’re saying.. I think you’re right, maybe I will just let it go for the timebeing.
thank you coolbreeze..

it’s funny.. everyones telling me diff things. I’m back to where I started being confused about what to do all over again, lol. ughh.. everyone has good points.
okay.. I did it. Sent the email to both of em.. did not mention the separation though, kept it very professional and tot he point. Wish me luck :)

thanks everyone !

I wouldn’t c/c it but rather just send the same e mail to both of them. as far as the husband goes, if you think it would improve your chances of getting hired again then mention it, maybe you could just say it in passing something like… my husband and I are in the process of getting a divorce so I really need to know where I stand as far as getting my job back, so I can plan for my future.

Our company needs a good program to use to blast out email templates to our clients for announcements, etc. We dont really have a huge list, but using Outlook isnt our preference.

I am especially looking for something that has the option to send automatically a text version in case the html version of the template doesnt go through. I have also noticed that alot of various online email services (like Constant Contact) make you add a footer with an address, etc - and since we pefer to add our own using our own fonts and placement, that won’t do either.

Can anyone recommend an email marketing service or software that I could check out? There is just too many out there to spend such time on and I’d really appreciate it!

The most mature email marketing script is made by ActiveCampaign, Inc. You can find it at: http://www.activecampaign.com/email-marketing/

The software is web-based, so you install it on your web server rather than your workstation. It allows you to design and use your own templates and maintain complete control over their content. It also generates subscription forms to place on your web pages, allows unlimited timed autoresponders, does a/b split testing, detailed statistics tracking, and automatic bounce handling.
