How to Create a Facebook Fan Page Custom iFrame Tab

With the recent demise of Facebook’s static FBML language for fanpages, users now must learn how to create fan pages using the new iFrame funcitonality. While htere may be some groaning about having to make changes to your fan page, the new iFrames allows for a lot more flexibility in creating your fan pages.
WIth iFrame you are essentially inserting your own static HTML page that is hosted on your own web server. This means that you can do all kinds of cool things with your fan page that might have been a bit more challenging to pull off with the old static FBML.
Facebook fan page iFrames have a limit of 520 pixels wide by 800 pixels long, but you will be able to utilize any web programming languages such as HTML, CSS or JavaScript. The cool thing is that oyu can add your own buttons, tabs, embed your own videos and even insert a bit of analytics code to track activity on the page.
You’ve got a couple of options when it comes to taking advantage of the new iFrames functionality. You can create your own Facebook app, or you can make use of iFrame apps that provide a template for you to follow. In this article, we are going to use a free Facebook app that will make setting up your iFrame tabs a breeze, and you don’t need to learn any new programming languages to do so.
Go to your fan page and type: ‘Static HTML: iframe tabs’ in the search bar. (It has a gray star for a logo).
Click the “Like” button and then click on the “Go to App” button.
Next you will see a little window appear asking you if you want to add the app. Select the fan page that you would like to add the app to from the dropdown menu that will appear if you have more than one fan page, and then click on the ‘ Add Static HTML: iframe tabs’ button
Now when you look at your fan page you will see a new ‘Welcome’ tab in the left navigation area with a star in it. Click on that link and your new page will appear with two blank text areas. The upper text area is where you can add the text and graphics that will welcome your visitors and give them an idea of what your page has to offer and how they will benefit by becoming a member.
There is a lower text area, which is optional displays content that the visitor will see only after having liked your page. You can embed a video here, you can offer a premium gift and then add the opt-in form here for them to add their email address to get the free gift, the sky is the limit as to what you can offer to your fans.
When you are done, click on the ‘Save and view tab’ button at the top of the page, and you will be able to look at your page from the perspective of someone who has liked the page and someone who has not.
