How to Make Money Blogging

If you’ve read my other articles, you’ll already know how to drive large amounts of traffic to your blog through basic SEO practices and through creating outstanding content.

But what’s the use in all of that if you’re never getting any decent money from your blog at the end of the day?

Sure, some people do this for nothing but poops and giggles, but for the enterprising individual that I am sure you are, we must look at ways to add revenue to our blogs to actually turn blogging into a successful business.

Before we do, it’s important to realize that there’s nothing ethically or morally wrong with monetizing your blog. After all, the products you sell or ads you run from your blog will be aimed to help your readers, and it’s their decision to engage in them at the end of the day.

So, let’s look at the various ways to extract some easy money from your blog:

1. adsense

This is the old classic that still holds true for many bloggers. Because Adsense is so easy to implement into your site, and because the quality of the ads (and relevance) is so high, there’s a lot of potential to get lots of clicks from running this simple script on your site. However, this might not exactly allow you to quit your day job just yet, unless you have a serious amount of traffic coming in to your blog daily.

2. Affiliate programs

There’s no end of products you can promote as an affiliate and in many cases (particularly with digital download sales) you can earn a significant share of the revenue, sometimes up to 100% in a few cases. It’s really just a case of finding a good affiliate network, signing up and picking products to promote that tie in with your blog content. The more you hand pick individual products to promote based on individual posts, the higher your revenue will be. Don’t just slap one product on the sidebar; you need to actively presell the product by talking about it, and the problems it solves.

3. Selling advertising space

Just like making money from Adsense ads on your blog, there needs to be substantial (and targeted) traffic to your blog in order for you to attract media buyers (the people who buy the ad space from your site). Furthermore, advertisers will want to know precise demographics of your average blog readers, such as their age, location and reading habits (how long they stay on your site and what they respond to in terms of your content and other ads). You can get this information by visiting Quantcast.com and using their scripts to gather all of this data from your blog, which you can then present to interested buyers of ad space on your blog.

These are just some of the ways to attract revenue from your site. Each of the above methods does of course require more training in order for you to reach your maximum profit potential and beyond.

E-commerce Entrepreneur and eBay Platinum PowerSeller John Lawson is Available for Comment Concerning eBay, ……

E-commerce and eBay strategies and approaches are changing as fast as the related technology is being developed. Lawson is known for being capable of not only embracing innovations and change, but also for being able to understand which new products, methods, and ideas are worth embracing and which should be passed on.

Stone Mountain, GA (PRWEB) June 2, 2008 — Founder and CEO of the online urban clothing store 3rd Power Outlet (http://www.3rdPowerOutlet.com), John Lawson has been growing and changing his business with the continuously shifting world of e-commerce since he began selling a few used IT books online for extra money in 2001.

Now that he has not only established himself as an eBay Platinum PowerSeller and eBay Certified Education Specialist but also successfully navigated his business through the dot.com bubble burst, Lawson is turning his focus to teaching, speaking, and consulting.

The fact that he is a straight shooting, successful business person and a pioneer who brought hip-hop successfully to eBay just adds enormous credibility to what he says and lends value to the answers he gets from speakers at these conferences.

“I focus on transitions,” said Lawson. “One big transition is successfully growing something you do in your spare time and on the weekends into your bread and butter. The next change is growing your business from a smaller entity into something more diversified and mature – to take off the training wheels.”

With Lawson at the helm, 3rd Power Outlet (http://www.3rdPowerOutlet.com) has continued to grow over the last seven years, to the point where the company ships over 100 packages a day and consists of a successful eBay store, online store, and blog. Since its inception, Lawson has been able to transition completely away from his former corporate job, become the first African-American member of member of the Professional eBay Sellers Association (PeSA), and become a respected and valued voice in the eBay merchant community.

“John asks the questions most attendees at events like Catalyst or eCommerce Summit wish they had thought of asking,” said Scott Pooler, a fellow eBay PowerSeller and the publisher of the Trading Assistant Journal where Lawson is a regular guest blogger (http://is.gd/lX0). “The fact that he is a straight shooting, successful business person and a pioneer who brought hip-hop successfully to eBay just adds enormous credibility to what he says and lends value to the answers he gets from speakers at these conferences.”

Lawson regularly participates in and reports from regional and national eBay and e-commerce summits and events. Recently, he has been interviewed by The Washington Post concerning one-click payment methods, PC World Online Magazine concerning recent changes to the eBay platform and by www.AuctionByte.com for a profile of his company. He has also lent his insight and know-how to Wall Street analysts.

E-commerce strategies and approaches are changing as fast as the related technology is being developed. Lawson is known for being capable of not only embracing innovations and change, but also for being able to understand which new products, methods, and ideas are worth embracing and which should be passed on.

“You have got to be ready for change,” said Lawson. “You have to be in the forefront and grasp the new technology as soon as it’s out there. You also have got to be able to pick and choose what innovations will work for your company — all change isn’t necessarily good change.”
