Along with all of the changes to Facebook fan pages that came along with the new iFrames functionality, you may have noticed that there is now a place for five photos at the top of Your fan page. Most people simply use those photos to put images related to their fan page content, however, I was perusing youtube.com recently and I learned a great little trick from Jo Barnes that I am going to share with you now that will show you how to put those images to work growing your email subscriber list.

What you are going to be doing is uploading a graphic image that will become clickable into each of those five spots. You can create the image in Photoshop, or Gimp or whatever image software that you have on your computer.  You can create images with mini-headlines about what the link will offer them.  They could say, “Click Here for a Free eBook,” or  “Tutorial Videos,” or “Fill out a Survey”  or maybe, “Secret Surprise!” The point is that you want to pique their curiosity so that they will click. After they click on the image they will be presented with a link in the caption box to the page where they can get what was promised.

This is a nifty way to make use of some prime real estate on your fan page, and if you make the images link to your squeeze page you can grow your email subscriber list.

Here’s how easy it is to set this up:

The first step is to create the five images that you will use in the photo panel on your fan page. Save them all in the same folder and name it something related to the topic.

Go to your fan page and click on ‘Photos’

Click on ‘Upload Photos’

-Select photos (choose the multiple photo upload option and upload all five images into the same album.

-Fill in the caption area with a bit of descriptive text and then the link that you want people to click on.

Now  when you go back to your fan page you will see all five images displayed across the top of your page offering your visitors lots of options that will add value to their visit to your page.  Use your imagination to come up with lots of ways that you can use those images to catch your visitors attention and engage them with what you have to offer.

Remember that one of the cool features of Facebook fan pages is their ‘viral’ ability, which means that when one of your fans likes your page or one of your posts, that ‘like’ is noted on your friend’s wall making a link to your fan page and the fact that this person liked it visible to all of his friends. If one of his friends then clicks on your link your reach begins to expand exponentially—like a virus, but in a good way.

That’s how easy it is to make great use of your fan page photos to get even more engagement from your Facebook fans.

As an online marketer you know how popular Facebook fan pages have become. They are a great vehicle for connecting with your current customers and attracting new customers in a friendly, popular social media platform.

So often, visitors will land on a fan page, take a quick peek at the wall and then maybe click away never to return. Now let’s take a look at how easy it is to set up a fan page gateway using a free iframes app.

Go to your fan page and do a search for the app: Static HTML:iframe tabs

Click the ‘Like’ button, and then the ‘Go to App’ button

You will be asked if you want to add the app. If you have more than one fan page, select the page that you want to use the app on from the dropdown menu, and then click the ‘Add Static HTML: iframe tabs’ button

Now you are back on your fan page and you should see a new, gray ‘Welcome’ tab with a star in it. Click on that tab and you will be brought to a new page that contains two blank fields: In the top field you will insert a graphic image that encourages visitors to click the ‘Like’ button, and then tells them what they will get when they do. The second field reveals what they will see after they have liked your page and become a fan. This is where you will insert the opt-in code form your auto-responder program.

When you are done, click on the ‘Save and view tab’ button at the top of the page.

It’s really that simple. You might want to create a test fan page to try out your new iframe skills before you mess with your real fan page if it is already established and you have a fan base. A squeeze page is only the beginning of what you can do with the new iframes functionality with Facebook fan pages.
