5 Powerful Tools to Help You Create Better Sales Letters

A sales letter is one of your most valuable tools when it comes to making sales online. Your sales letters are your silent sales force that will be working for you 24/7, so you want to make sure that they are as effective as they can be. Not everyone can afford to hire a high-priced copywriter to write their sales letters for them, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a sales letter for your website.

If you must write your own sales letters when you are first starting out making money online, there are tons of tools available to help you to craft an effective sales letter on your own without the services of a professional copywriter.

Here are five powerful tools that can help you create a sales letter when you have to do it yourself:

1. Sales letter templates

If you can follow directions and fill in the blanks, then using a sales letter template might be a good place to start. One of the benefits of using a sales letter template is that these templates come from professionally written sales letters that have been tested and proven to generate results. You tart with the template and add in your specific details for your product or service. Using a template helps make writing a sales letter much faster and easier.

2. Sales letter generators

These are push-button software programs that are similar to using a template, but the whole process is automated. The software comes with many different types of sales letters, snippets of sales copy that you can re-use, and several pre-written headlines, sub-headlines, guarantees, call to action and all of the other elements that go into an effective sales letter.

Sales letter generators will also help you insert the information for your payment processer to create your “Buy Now” button.

3. Sales letter plugins

If you are running a WordPress blog, there are several WordPress sales letter plugins available to help you create sales letters within your blog. Many of these plugins come with pre-formatted templates for landing pages, sales pages, and video squeeze pages. A good thing about using a sales page plugin is that you will end up with landing pages and sales letters in a design layout that has been tested and proven to create high conversions.

If you are running your own blog and you know how to install a plugin, then you can get started using these plug and play templates right away.

4. Graphics packages

You can’t ignore how important graphics are to how well your sales pages convert visitors to buyers. Using the right header image, the right bullets and buttons will all contribute to the overall look and feel of your sales page. You can buy complete graphics packages that contain headers, ‘buy now’ buttons, check marks, bullets, text snippets such as “Money Back Guarantee,” and several other graphic elements that will add just the right touch to your sales pages.

5. Sales Letter Examples

If you want to create professional looking sales pages, you should model them after the ones that have been written by successful copywriters. As you are online visiting other sales letters, begin to keep what pro copywriters call a “swipe file,” of sales pages that appeal to you and that you would like to model—not copy.

How to Secure Your Facebook Fan Page Apps

If you’ve got a custom Facebook fan page welcome tab running in an iFrame, there are some changes coming up on Facebook that you need to be aware of or else your content will disappear from your visitors view. On October 1, 2011, Facebook will be requiring that all fan pages with custom iFrame apps be secured with a SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Certificate.

This certificate simply shows that the site’s security has been verified by a trusted 3rd party source. Take a look up at the URL of the Facebook page that you are browsing. Does it begin with http://? If so, then you are browsing in an un-secure mode. Having content hosted on secure servers and browsing Facebook in secure https mode protects your account from being hacked.

Browse Facebook securely

To browse Facebook in secure mode, go to ‘Account Settings,’ and then click the ‘Security,’ link on the left side of the page. ‘Secure Browsing’ is the first option on the list. Click the ‘Edit,’ button to enable secured browsing. Now when you are using Facebook you will use a secure connection whenever possible.

SSL Certificates

There are two different kinds of SSL Certificates: 1. Shared or variable certificate. Those who have a shared hosting account will most likely have a shared certificate, and 2. Private or static SSL certificates, which you can purchase for your domain when you have a dedicated server hosting package.

You can get a SSL certificate from your web host. If you are on a shared hosting plan that you purchased from a reseller, your SSL certificate will most often be free. You can purchase a private SSL certificate for your dedicated server. Your hosting company probably offers one or can refer you to where you can get one.

After October 1st, when Facebook makes the switch, all content that is being brought in to Facebook that is being hosted on servers outside of Facebook, must be hosted on a server with a Secure Socket Layer Certificate. It is your responsibility to secure your custom fan page apps so that your content will not disappear and instead display an error message for your visitors.

Securing  your fan page apps in Facebook

Here’s an example of how you would set up your shared SSL if your site is hosted with Hostgator. For other hosting companies you can contact support and find out how they configure their shared SSL certificates.

Follow these instructions:

http://support.hostgator.com/articles/ssl-certificates/ssl-setup-use/how-to-set-up-and-use-your-shared-ssl

and then add the new, secure URL you have created to Facebook.

You’ll know your custom iFrame tab is not configured for https when you get this error message on the page:

Please Update Your Secure Tab URL

To make sure users can view your app over a secure browser connection (https), please visit the developer console to update your Secure Tab URL.

‘Update secure URL’   ‘Temporarily turn off HTTPS’

Click on, ‘Update secure URL’ and update both the, ‘Secure canvas URL,’ and the ‘Secure page tab URL’ using the new secure URL you just configured.

Or you can log in to your Facebook account, go to https://developers.facebook.com and click on, ‘Apps.’ Find the app for your fan page and click on the ‘Edit settings,’ button. Update the secure canvas URL and the secure page tab URL.

Following the instructions above make sure secure browsing is turned on in your Facebook profile and then go back to your fan page to make sure that everything shows up properly.

Virtual Assistants (VA’s) — Why you May Need One and Where to Find One

How can you tell if you need a virtual assistant (VA)? As an online business owner do you ever find yourself hunched over your computer late into the night working more hours than you thought you’d have to? Does your family often beg you to step away from the computer and spend time with them? If you are an online business owner and you find that you need more balance in your life, then it might be time to consider hiring a virtual assistant.

On a practical level, how do you value your time? If you bill your time at $75. per hour, for example, for the next few days, keep a running list of every single task that you complete in your business and how long it took for you to complete those tasks. Then ask yourself if all of those items were worth $75. per hour. That exercise alone should help you decide when it’s time to consider hiring a VA. Let’s take a look at who a virtual assistant is and what they do.

What is a virtual assistant?

A virtual assistant is a contract employee who works remotely using their own computer and Internet connection. They can be located in your town or on the other side of the globe. You assign specific tasks that you need to get done and they complete them and send the project back to you.

What do VA’s do?

Virtual assistants can do a ton of different tasks related to running an Internet based business. If you are considering hiring a VA, you should make a list of all of the tasks that must be completed on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis for your business. Next go down that list and check off the ones you can delegate. Knowing the kinds of tasks that you need done will help you to choose the best virtual assistant. Here are some typical tasks that you might delegate to a VA:

  • Scheduling & managing your calendar
  • Research
  • Pay bills
  • Online shopping
  • Travel planning
  • Event planning
  • Traffic generation tasks
  • Screen incoming calls
  • Manage your email
  • Moderate blog comments
  • Data entry

Where do you find virtual assistants?

There are countless online job boards where you can find and hire VA’s such as elance.com, odesk.com. If you want to hire someone from your local area and in a hurry, you can place an ad on craigslist.com.

If you are feeling nervous or tentative about letting go of some of your tasks, ease into it by hiring some of the folks at fiverr.com to handle one task at a time for you. At five bucks a pop, you can definitely afford it and when you see that the work gets done and you are free to do more of what you are passionate about you’ll begin to see that hiring a virtual assistant might be just what your business needs to move up to the next level.

Adsense is the Most Reliable Source of Passive Income Online: 5 Tips for Success

If you own a website or blog that contains keyword optimized content and it getting a decent flow of traffic, Google’s Adsense program just might be your most reliable source of online passive income.

In case you’re not familiar with it, Adsense is a free program that allows you to earn money by displaying Google ads on your websites and blogs. The program is free to sign up for and if you own your website and know how to access the code in the backend, you can host Adsense ads.

Your first step is to sign up with Google Adsense and get approved. You’ll need to supply information such as your name, address and telephone number along with your website details. But it’s pretty easy to apply and get approved. Your next challenge will be to create a website or blog that attracts lots of people who will consume your content and click on your ads. Here’s some bonus advice for you. Be sure to read the terms and conditions for Google Adsense placement before you start inserting ad codes on your websites.

1. Create content on a topic that is narrowly focused and deep
Many people in their enthusiasm and passion for several topics will try to combine them on one blog. To be effective you really want to focus in on a particular aspect of a topic and then delve deep. What you’re going for is the long tail, specific keywords that people use when they know exactly what they are looking for.

2. Commit to creating quality, relevant, original content.
For SEO purposes, and to attract the best quality, targeted traffic to your sites, you should focus on creating good content. This can be in the form of text, video or audio, but to be the most effective it should be unique.

3. Take the time to let the blog age while building up content, traffic, back links and page rank.
Rather than running right out the moment you set up your blog to insert Adsense, give your blog some time to gain some traction. Let your domain age a bit, start generating a nice quantity of back links and build up a decent amount of traffic so that when you launch Adsense on your site it will be most effective.

4. Use content-sharing sites such as Hubpages.com and Squidoo.com
Content sharing sites allow you to split the ad revenues from programs like Adsense, Amazon, and eBay when you post your content on their site. You would create some fresh articles on your topic, post them on these sites with links back to your blogs and you will begin to generate residual or passive income.

5. Choose one income stream and stick with it
I will tell you that this piece of advice is controversial because some marketers will swear by loading up their sites with all kinds of revenue generators, but when you provide too many options for your visitors to choose from you will confuse them. What does a confused mind always do? That’s right. It says, “No.” So, choose one passive income stream and focus on developing its potential before you start crowding your blog and irritating your visitors.

Rinse & repeat! Once you’ve got a blog set up and earning passive income with Adsense, repeat and set up another and another until you’ve built your own little niche blogging empire that cranking out passive income for you.
