What is Niche Marketing vs. Internet Marketing?
In a previous post I defined niche marketing as staking out your specific part of a larger market, learning what the needs and wants of that market are and delivering products and services that meet those needs better than anyone else.
In niche marketing you have a narrowly defined market that allows you to delve deep into the niche, get to know the needs and desires of the market and supply them with products and services that provide tangible solutions.
If you’re looking to establish a foothold in marketing online, niche marketing can provide you with the opportunity to stake out your spot to shine. As you learn and gain knowledge, skill and experience, your income and your audience will grow accordingly.
Where niche marketing is narrow and deep Internet marketing is infinitely broad and shallow. Internet marketing is all about using a broad range of strategies including search engine marketing (SEM) search engine optimization (SEO) email marketing, social media marketing and banner advertising placement to interact with website visitors to entice them to respond to what is being offered for sale.
Internet marketing can also considered a niche in that there are certain marketers who have gained a lot of expertise and exposure by creating and selling products and services that teach others how to utilize the medium of Internet marketing to make money.
Because there is always a lot of money to be made by teaching others how to make money, Internet marketing itself is a hot, and highly competitive niche. Through providing products, training and consulting, Internet marketers who have longevity in the market and who have established themselves as a trusted authority are richly rewarded for their efforts. Newcomers to the Internet marketing niche must earn and prove their way to the top of the food chain, which takes time, patience and perseverance.
