Facebook Fan Pages Switch to iFrame: What Does this Mean for Your Fan Page?

Facebook is always making changes in order to upgrade and refine their popular social media platform.  With well over 500 million users, about half of which admit to logging in at least once a day, the Facebook fan page has become a vital business tool for those who are trying to expand their brand and get in front of as many of those active Facebook users as possible.

Facebook fan pages

A Facebook fan page is free and it’s quick to set up a basic fan page for your business. In March of this year, Facebook phased out the FBML (Facebook Markup Language) version of their fan pages, and moved to using iFrame technology for creating fan pages.  After the switch to iFrame, no new FBML apps can be created on Facebook. FBML was Facebook’s proprietary version of HTML, so if you can write HTML code, you could easily make your way with FBML. Now this new change forces users to expand their horizons and their skill sets just a little bit by learning to implement the iframes technology.

IFrame is not new by any means, but it is the perfect format for bringing much more functionality and flexibility to fan pages than was possible with the old, static FBML. The good news is that if you like your old fan page just the way it is, thank you very much, you will not be forced to switch over to iFrames right away. Eventually, they may phase it out all together, but you will have some time to make the change.  But if you want to create a new, custom fan page, you will want to learn how to navigate iFrames.

What is an iFrame application?

Facebook’s iFrame application allows users to embed their own external web page into their fan page. Think about that for a second and imagine all of the possibilities. You host this page on your own server, so you’ve got to have access to your own web hosting account where you can upload the pages for your fan page apps.

You do have to have some knowledge about HTML, and uploading pages to your own web server. If you do not have these skills, you can easily hire an outsourcer to install your new iFrames fan page for a reasonable price. If you visit a site called, fiverr.com, you might even be able to get someone to create a new iFrame app for your fan page for five bucks.

This change is going to mean good things for you if you are really using your Facebook fan pages to their best advantage. You can more easily embed the opt-in code for your email auto-responder programs, and you can offer special content only to those visitors who have ‘Liked’ your page, but there are tons of other possibilities.

This week we are covering Facebook fan pages and iFrames in depth, so stay tuned for some more in-depth information and some step-by-step tutorials and tips for making the most of this latest Facebook change.

Creating a membership site where you can offer specialized, premium content to your members in a protected environment is a great way to generate passive income online.  Getting your membership site setup and running so that you can start attracting members can be a little bit complicated if you do not know what you are doing, and if you do not have a template to follow. OptimizePress, which is a WordPress plugin for Internet marketers provides an elegant, easy to use framework for your membership site.

OptimizePress integrates easily with membership site scripts

Optimize Press: Create Professional Squeeze Pages with Ease

As an Internet entrepreneur you know how crucial it is to the success of your business to build a big email list. When you have built your own list of subscribers, you have an asset that can bolster the success of your online business.

A responsive list of email subscribers means that you have your own targeted audience who has raised their hand to say that they are interested in hearing from you again. You have the opportunity to build a relationship with them, to gain their trust and increase the know and like factor so that they will feel comfortable buying from you again and again.

For those Internet marketers who have more ideas and enthusiasm than they have technical skills, creating squeeze pages or opt-in pages can be challenging. You either have to pay your web designer to do it, or you might try downloading a template and muddling through inserting your copy and fiddling with the HTML codes. Then you realize that you’ve still got to figure out how to add the code from your email auto-responder program.

You know that a squeeze page is a proven, effective way to build your list quickly. It can allow you to offer an “ethical bribe” in the form of a free product in exchange for the subscriber’s contact information. When this product is something of value to them that demonstrates your expertise, and whet’s their appetite for the products that you have available on your website it can be a great way to build a following of loyal subscribers who may one day become valuable customers.

There are several aspects to creating an effective squeeze page, and if you have never created one before you might feel like you are stumbling in the dark a little bit in the beginning.

Wouldn’t it be great to have a selection of proven squeeze page templates to choose from that you  could simply plug your compelling copy into and have a custom squeeze page without paying a designer or barely even breaking a sweat? Well, when you have a WordPress theme like OptimizePress creating squeeze pages is really that simple.

You have 10 squeeze page design templates that you can customize to fit your topic and your branding scheme. These templates have been tested and optimized to provide excellent conversion rates.

Finally there is an easy way to integrate your autoresponder code. Simply copy and paste and you’ll have a working opt-in box. Adding your headline, choosing the font, and adding bullets is simply a matter of ticking the right boxes for the page elements that you would like to include.

Now, in just a matter of a few minutes and with minimal hassle, you can have a custom squeeze page that you built yourself that you can start sending lots of targeted traffic to so that you can start building your list.

If you do any kind of Internet marketing, and you want to eliminate the need to hire designers to create custom pages for you, and you want to feel a bit more in control of your campaigns, then you should take a look at OptimizePress.  Check it out today at, http://imsafelink.com/OptimizePress-article

Using Google Analytics to Track Your Conversions

It can be said without exaggeration that tracking your website’s conversion rate is one of the most important components in your online business. Let’s say that you have a product and you came up with a price that you thought made sense, set up the sales page and started sending traffic to that page. When you started making sales you figured that was pretty cool and then moved on to the next project. But then you are hanging out with a fellow Internet marketer who is sharing an embarrassing story about how he never split tested his product’s price or the landing page until recently, and when he analyzed the results of the test and changed the price, sales increased by 120%!

Yes, you can make a simple change to you landing page, even to the color of a button and see drastic changes to your site’s conversion rate, but how do you track your current conversions so that you know what’s working and what needs tweaking? Well, fortunately for you, Google Analytics can do all of this and more for free. Let’s look at how you can use GA to track your website’s conversions:

After you have signed up for your Google Analytics account you will get a tracking code that you will need to install on your website. If you are running a WordPress blog, there is a handy Google Analytics for WordPress plugin that you can install that makes adding the tracking code quite simple to install.

Using Google Analytics to track conversion rates

Step 1: Create a ‘Thank You’ page for the product that you are testing conversions for and copy and paste the URL for that new page into a Notepad file because you’re going to need it soon.

Step 2: Using the Goal Tracking feature in Google Analytics

From within your website’s profile in GA, click on the ‘edit’ button to the right of the link for your website.

You will be brought to the ‘Profile Settings,’ page for your website, and if you scroll down just a little bit you will see a section called, ‘Goals.’ Google Analytics allows you to create up to 20 conversion goals for each website profile.

Click on the ‘Add goal,’ link.

Give your goal a name, such as the name of the product, and then under ‘Goal Type,’ choose ‘URL Destination,’

Here is where you will put the link to the Thank you page that you created earlier. If the enter URL to that page is, http://mycoolblog.com/thank-you, then you would paste “/thank you/” as your goal URL.

It’s as simple as that. Now you just have to wait a few days before you start seeing results because Google Analytics does not work in real time.

Now that you know how to set up basic goals using Google Analytics, you can set up goals to track newsletter subscriptions and other actions that visitors might be taking when they land on your website.

How to Buy and Flip Blogs for Quick Profit

If it is done properly, you can really make some nice cash when you buy and flip blogs.  Once you have gained just a little bit of experience selling online you know the characteristics of blogs that will sell and ones that are duds. In this article, we are going to take a look at how you can buy underperforming websites with potential and resell them for quick profit.

One of the first things that you want to look at when you are considering buying a website is the niche. What is the topic of the site? Is it a hot niche? Is it related to a topic or product that people are currently searching for? These are all important questions. To answer them you want to do a bit of research.

If you found a blog that you think might be a good candidate visit the Google keyword tool and type the URL for the site into this tool and see what keywords. The site is based on. Click on the button that says ‘Columns’ and then tick the ‘Estimated AVG CPC,’ box and click, ‘Apply.’ You will see the value of the keywords related to this site.

Content

Next, take a look at the blog’s content. What kind of content do you see? Is there a lot of quality content there? Content is really the most important aspect of the blog and it will determine all of the other important metrics such as traffic and monetization. So you want to choose a blog that has a basic foundation of quality content.

Traffic

Where is the blog’s traffic coming from? How much traffic? Are they currently getting? You’ll want to take a look at this blog’s Alexa rank, and Google page rank. These are all important foundational questions that you’ll need to answer in order to determine if this site is worth investing in.

Monetization

How is the website monetized now? Do you see AdSense ads or other advertising on the blog?

Appearance

When you are buying a blog with an eye towards fixing it up and reselling it, its current appearance really doesn’t matter that much. That can easily be changed. If the site has good page rank, and is getting good traffic, it’s fine if it’s ugly now.

So, now let’s say you found a blog that has some potential. It has decent page rank. It’s getting traffic, and it has the potential to generate some income. Here are some things that you can do to spruce it up and flip it for a quick profit.

Sprucing up a blog for resale

With actual real estate, kitchens, bathrooms and backyards are what sell homes. With virtual real estate the focus is more on content traffic and income generation.

You want to buy a blog that looks like a dud now, but with a bit of work. You can transform it into a superstar. Just by adding some AdSense or other ad network, offering a product for sale, creating an e-mail subscriber list, and doing some basic SEO can raise the value of a blog significantly.
