Using Google Analytics to Track Your Conversions

It can be said without exaggeration that tracking your website’s conversion rate is one of the most important components in your online business. Let’s say that you have a product and you came up with a price that you thought made sense, set up the sales page and started sending traffic to that page. When you started making sales you figured that was pretty cool and then moved on to the next project. But then you are hanging out with a fellow Internet marketer who is sharing an embarrassing story about how he never split tested his product’s price or the landing page until recently, and when he analyzed the results of the test and changed the price, sales increased by 120%!

Yes, you can make a simple change to you landing page, even to the color of a button and see drastic changes to your site’s conversion rate, but how do you track your current conversions so that you know what’s working and what needs tweaking? Well, fortunately for you, Google Analytics can do all of this and more for free. Let’s look at how you can use GA to track your website’s conversions:

After you have signed up for your Google Analytics account you will get a tracking code that you will need to install on your website. If you are running a WordPress blog, there is a handy Google Analytics for WordPress plugin that you can install that makes adding the tracking code quite simple to install.

Using Google Analytics to track conversion rates

Step 1: Create a ‘Thank You’ page for the product that you are testing conversions for and copy and paste the URL for that new page into a Notepad file because you’re going to need it soon.

Step 2: Using the Goal Tracking feature in Google Analytics

From within your website’s profile in GA, click on the ‘edit’ button to the right of the link for your website.

You will be brought to the ‘Profile Settings,’ page for your website, and if you scroll down just a little bit you will see a section called, ‘Goals.’ Google Analytics allows you to create up to 20 conversion goals for each website profile.

Click on the ‘Add goal,’ link.

Give your goal a name, such as the name of the product, and then under ‘Goal Type,’ choose ‘URL Destination,’

Here is where you will put the link to the Thank you page that you created earlier. If the enter URL to that page is, http://mycoolblog.com/thank-you, then you would paste “/thank you/” as your goal URL.

It’s as simple as that. Now you just have to wait a few days before you start seeing results because Google Analytics does not work in real time.

Now that you know how to set up basic goals using Google Analytics, you can set up goals to track newsletter subscriptions and other actions that visitors might be taking when they land on your website.

How to Use Google Analytics to Boost Your AdSense Earnings on Your WordPress Blog

AdSense publishers know the importance of figuring out which of their ads are being clicked on the most often, and which locations on their blog seem to attract more clicks than others in order to optimize their earnings. Did you know that there is a way that you can easily track AdSense clicks for free using Google Analytics? Let’s take a look at how easy it is to set this up so that you can use the information that you gather to boost your AdSense earnings.

Before we delve into this topic I will tell you that this will be just a basic overview. For precise, step-by-step tutorials, visit the Google AdSense Support page and consult the ‘AdSense Help’ articles.

To implement this strategy you will need to have a Google Analytics account, a Google AdSense account, and the Google Analytics WordPress plugin installed on your blog.  The two accounts must already be set up using the same login and password because you will be linking the two accounts. You must also have administrator privileges on the Google Analytics account.

Log in to your AdSense account. In the new interface you will see the link to integrate your AdSense account with Google Analytics on the Home or Overview screen. Clicking on that link will bring you to the Google Analytics site and show you a demo video that will walk you through linking AdSense and Analytics.

Once you have linked up your AdSense and Analytics accounts, go to the configuration page for the Google Analytics for WordPress plugin and select ‘Track AdSense.’ Click ‘Update Google Analytics Settings’, and then log in to your Google Analytics account and create a new goal that will track your conversion rates. Select your blog’s profile and then click ‘Edit’

Click on ‘Goals’ in the left navigation panel, and then click “Add Goal.” Let’s call this new goal, “AdSense,”

Select “On” under “Active Goal”

Choose the Goal position

Under “Goal Type” select “URL Destination”

Choose the Match type

In the “Goal URL” field, type: “/outbound/adsense”

You can assign a goal value if you like. This is optional

Click, “Save Goal.”

And that is how you link up your AdSense and your Google Analytics accounts so that you can use this information to improve your AdSense results.

It can take about 24 hours or so before you start seeing data in you Google Analytics account if you just set it up today. Once it is active you will be able to see which keywords bring you the most clicks, which will reveal which keywords you should be focusing your attention on, and which pages and ad blocks on specific pages have the best response rates.

Testing and tracking is the best way to improve your AdSense revenue conversions. Taking the time to test and track means more money from the same amount of effort because your ads placements are generating a greater return. What’s not to like about that?

Generate Backlinks and Traffic, Build Your List and Gain Tons of Exposure with Contest Burner

Traffic equals money for the serious online entrepreneur, and Contest Burner is a fast, fun way to generate lots of high quality, free traffic to Your site with little effort on Your part.

You see, when you create a contest on Your website using the Contest Burner software with lots of fun prizes that your visitors really want, you are creating an incentive for your regular visitors to become brand ambassadors for you.

Your visitors will Tweet your blog posts to their followers on Twitter, they will share them with their Facebook friends in a status update, or a post on their fan page on Facebook, or even post it as an update on their LinkedIn profile. Other ways your visitors will be spreading the word about your site include creating original YouTube videos talking about you and your products and services, articles raving about your site and even press releases submitted on your behalf.

Each of these activities will garner points for your visitors, so the more they share your content the more points they will earn towards becoming the winner of your contest. One of the great things about all of these mentions of your site around the Internet is that they are being made by other people, not you. That is the perfect recipe for credible social proof, which has a powerful impact on improving conversion rates on your website.

When a prospective visitor sees your content being shared far and wide and they follow the link to your blog to find out more, they have already had an initial taste of what they hope to find on your website. Seeing all of the comments left by other visitors and the mentions in social media circles certainly raises your credibility level with those who are encountering your site for the first time.  In their minds, if this many people are sharing your content and writing about your site and your products, then you must be the real deal.

If you are launching a new book, course or information product, running a contest is an effective way to generate the buzz you need to encourage people to buy your products. The contest will definitely have your visitors talking you up and spreading the word.

But one thing that should be obvious in this whole plan is that you’ve got to be sure to have ‘buzz-worthy’ content, products and services. Make sure that your site has a consistent flow of excellent content that your visitors will find value in and so be happy to share with their network.

Another positive side-effect of all of this activity is that you will build a bigger, more responsive email list. It is up to you to not drop the ball and continue to cultivate a trusting relationship with them so that they will want to stick around and see what other exciting things you’ve got coming up on your website.

Tired of spending a ton of money and time trying to generate traffic and subscribers? Try contest burner. Check out, http://mcreasite.com/ContestBurner, and start building buzz for your blog today.

But you’re the one who ends up being the winner because your site will get a ton of viral traffic and buzz from all of the contest activities.

Once they sign up for your contest they will:

  • Send emails to their network of friends and family about your site or your product
  •  Create and publish articles and press releases about your product, site or event

Article Marketing Tips: 5 Strategies for Crafting a Compelling Resource Box

Article marketing has been around almost since the beginning when Al Gore first invented the Internet and it’s still a powerful free method for attracting targeted traffic building relative back links and establishing yourself as an expert thought leader in your niche.

If we were to take a step back and deconstruct an article, examining each element and the roles they play in the process, the resource box stands out as an essential element in constructing an effective article. Often overlooked and misused, the resource box for some article writers seems to be the place where they can grab their 30 seconds of fame. Those who don’t know better use this space to talk about themselves and how much they know about their topic.  But the primary purpose of the resource box is to get the reader who has just read your article to take the next step and click on the link to your website. Every word in the resource box needs to be focused on enticing and encouraging your reader to click on your link.

Incorporate these five resource box strategies in your articles and watch your conversion rates increase:

1. Make the resource box another paragraph that flows seamlessly from the previous one.

The resource box should not interrupt the flow of the article. When the resource box appears to be just a natural extension of the article readers are more likely to just continue reading and then rather than being stopped by a change in the flow of the article.

2. Use keywords as anchor text and include a full URL

Using an anchor text link (anchor text is a visible hyperlinked text) in addition to the full URL for your website will help boost your website’s search engine rankings for hose keywords. It also gives readers a clue about what they will find when they follow that link.

3. Invite readers to click on the link and tell them what they will gain by doing so

the copy in the resource box should invite readers to click on the link and then tell them what they will find or whether they will gain by clicking on the link. Offer a free offer the prospect of a free download or some other form of enticements that will make it worth it for them to go to the trouble of following your link from the article directory to your website. Here is where you let them know what’s in it for them when they click on your link.

4. Use the power of curiosity to get them to click on the link

Curiosity is a powerful motivator. Offer a tease that will get readers to click on the link to discover the answer. Fill  them with anticipation by a revealing just enough detail to get them to click on the link.

5. Create a sense of urgency

Another effective way to get readers to click through to your website is to create a sense of urgency. Explain that there is a limited time offer or a limited quantity of a Bonus product available on your website.

Bonus tip: Always include a compelling call to action in your resource box.  A great way to get even better results from your article marketing efforts is to automate them.
