  1. Hey Bill,

I’m one of your subscribers on your list. Nice video you have there! However, I’ve noticed that after you used BudUrl to cloak your link, your original affiliate link will still appear. Wouldn’t it be rather risky in the sense that others will just replace or rather delete your hop id in order not to let you gain the commission? Correct me if I’m wrong.

I would recommend Perfect Traffic Storm. It cloaks your affiliate link into a unique link which nobody can edit. Thus, keeping all your commissions to yourself. Check it out here: http://perfecttrafficstorm.com/links/16646

  2. I saw that as well. But once a user has reached that page – the page with the original affiliate link appearing, does it matter at that point. Or is it still possible for a user to make a change, resulting in your lost commission. Thank You. Maria Mekus

  3. Hey Bill,

I like the way you can track the traffic, and I think this is a great free tool.

I did have a question for you….. Looking at the link name, it shows your specific name at the end of the Bud URL link, is anyone able to modify the link other than you, I have had some of my commissions stolen before.

    Thanks for sharing, Ken

  4. It is a free service. usually a cookie is enough to get credit. I use other cloaking systems as well. Specifically I use Max Banner Ninja or Pretty links to hide the resolved affiliate link. But these cost some money, budurl is free

  5. How would this work if you are putting up a banner or other ad of the merchant? Do you put the cloaked link into the HTML, and if so, where?

  6. Depends on the banner program. If it does not cloak the link for you I would cloak in manually.

  7. Hey Bill,

I signed up for BudURL because it’s very cool for what it does & you can’t beat the fact that there’s a free option. I’m going to use it with articles I use for affiliate product promotions. The article directory I’m using doesn’t provide tracking data, so BudURL will be very helpful in determining the click-thrus & the links getting the clicks.

I’m not promoting “how to make money online” products, so I’m not really worried about link hijacking.

    Thanks for the share Bill.

    Ray

  8. Thanks for the tip … like the best ones – they’re the ones that are actually used by the ‘big’ guys. Will be checking out later and seeing how it helps with tracking.

    Thanks again.

  9. Thanks Bill, new to online business and this site is great for for that shortened link, Clickbanks hop shield is sooo super long. Looking forward to learning more!
