What is Search Engine Spam?
We all know what email spam is about, but spamming is more
than just a problem with email. There are tens of thousands of
websites around the world with the exact same content, which is
solely designed to attract search engine traffic so the web
master can sell products or make money with Adsense.
This is a highly poor strategy and is going to doom your
online business to fail in its efforts.
What Is Search Engine Spam?
Search engine spam is a manipulative tactic many web masters
try to use in order to try to get higher search engine
rankings. A web master will create or have pages created solely
for the purpose of tricking search engines into unsuitable,
superfluous, and/or meager quality search results.
You have probably experienced this yourself when browsing
the Internet. You look up something on your favorite search
engine and find that some of the results in your search have
absolutely nothing to do with what you put in your search
query. This is the web masters way of trying to trick users
into clicking onto their websites.
You Might Get Tricked Into Using Poor Methods –
Some may advise you to use this technique, claiming that it
will help you increase your website hits, website traffic, and
even increasing your sales for an online business. While this
may be true in the beginning, it is not the way you want people
to find your website. Most potential customers will see your
business as dishonest, and possibly even a scam all together.
That will turn away potential customers (even possible return
customers) for a lifetime. You can’t afford this risk in online
business. You will also have your website shut down eventually.
The search engines take search engine spam very seriously as it
will make them look horrible as well. When they find a website
that is using search engine spam to increase their search
engine rankings they will have you shut down. Is that really
worth it?
Straight Answer Definition Of Search Engine Spam From The
Search Engines –

has defined spam as "pages created deliberately to trick the
search engine into offering inappropriate, redundant, or
poor-quality search results." This is comparable to the
definitions presented by Google and MSN as well.

often used by search engine spammers.

Web master who use spam techniques to try to fool search
engine algorithms will be caught and it will not be pretty. Use
real techniques to increase your search engine rankings such as
back links, advertising, marketing, and promotions. You will
get ahead this way and stay in the clear of search engine
spamming.
